Animated Title Sequence: Howl's Moving Castle
This is an animatic designed to be a title sequence for Howl's Moving Castle (2004). The original film was directed by Hayao Miyazaki, and it is his take on Diana Wynne Jones’ 1986 novel of the same name. The music used in my animatic is Sophie’s Tomorrow by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, which is from an album of symphonic takes on the original Howl's Moving Castle Soundtrack. In my title sequence I wanted to focus on the more found-family and character driven aspects of the film. This film does have sweeping scenery, fantastical magic, and wonderful travel sequences but at heart it is about Sophie finding out who and where she really wants to be. This title sequence thus focuses on items close to the character's home, especially food which is a big part of any Ghibli film, while still giving hints to the magic and travel that can be found in the rest of the story.
